Meet Sean Gray – Coach, Level Up Tennis
Sean Gray is a passionate tennis coach with a gift for helping players grow—both on and off the court. Trained at the prestigious Rick Macci Tennis Academy—renowned for developing legends like Andy Roddick, Serena and Venus Williams and Jennifer Capriati—Sean brings a foundation of technical excellence and high-level instruction, but his coaching goes far beyond form and footwork.
At Level Up Tennis, Sean’s philosophy centers around meeting each player where they are. He believes every athlete, at any age, deserves personalized instruction, patient guidance, and a pathway toward real progress. His sessions are shaped by a dynamic blend of structure and spontaneity—combining clear goals with playful exploration, especially for younger players.
Sean incorporates proven PTR methodology (including the Open–Closed–Open lesson model) to build skills progressively, but always adapts to the individual. His calm, encouraging style helps students feel comfortable trying new things, while his strategic approach ensures that lessons are not only fun—but deeply effective.
From beginners learning their first rally to competitive players fine-tuning their serve, Sean helps each student “level up” at their own pace. His mission is to develop confident, capable athletes who enjoy the game and carry that confidence into other areas of life.

-Eric
Good tennis last night. First serve was working well. Threw in a few kick serves for 2nd serves. Was crushing my forehand due to the semi-western grip and even hit 3 or 4 swinging baseline volleys that were hard and in. I’m loving that I can step right in and hit with consistency! And my right shoulder is so much better, I think the new ways of hitting are really helping!
-Sarah
Sean has a great eye for detail, but never overwhelms you with too much at once. Sean paces things so you can really absorb and apply what you’re learning.
-Brian
I was always intimidated by my serve, but Sean helped me understand it piece by piece. Now I know exactly what to work on—and why it matters.
